Krzysztof Soszynski states that 85 to 95 percent of fighters on PEDs

UFC light heavyweight, Krzysztof Soszynski, believes that 85 to 95 percent of fighters are using PED (performance enhancing drugs) according to bloodyelbow.com.

"I even had someone talk to me about stem cell injections. You're looking at stuff like EPO, and at least five or six different counterfeit drugs out there that people are using and they're not even detectable in the body. It's just amazing to me how far athletes are willing to go to make their mark in this sport" Soszynski said.

PEDs, for the most part, haven't been unanimously linked with MMA and hopefully never will be. The most recent high profile case of PED usage was the TRT (testosterone replacement therapy) tied with Nate Marquardt's removal from UFC on Versus 4 after failing the pre-fight medical exam. Although not a PED per se, TRT is linked with PEDs since PEDs cause a drop in testosterone production in the body which would merit the use of TRT. More over, it was Marquardt's handling of his TRT that caused him to be booted from the UFC.

Soszynski states that he has never used PEDs in his eight year MMA career, although hinted that the same could not be said during his days as a body builder. Additionally other MMA notables such as BJ Penn has made accusations against fellow fighters for PED use. In this case, Penn believes that George St. Pierre is on PED usage although these claims were never proven to be true or otherwise.

"If there's a substance you can take out there that's going to make you bigger, stronger, more explosive, going to help you train harder, going to help you train longer, and it's going to help with your recovery as well, and you know if you take it the right way and follow the right instructions, you'll never get caught for it, wouldn't you take it?" Soszynski added.

For the UFC, who's quickly establishing itself as the premier MMA promotion if it hasn't done so already, would do well to prevent PED/TRT abuse within its fighters. CEO of Zuffa and UFC part owner, Lorenzo Fertitta, has pointed to random testing as a solution to PED/TRT abuse.

 |  (76) Comments SicJits: TRT is ONLY a PED if your doing it without a test that proves you need it GO HARD: is Krys going to become the UFCs Jose Conseco?? q; O B_Type13X2: not really surprised that most fighters or most athletes for that matter are on PED's maybe I am jaded now by all of this cause it seems to be every other day... Cryptic_Soldier: I bet if 80-90% of americans used MJ (weed) every day or even once a week it would not only be legal but also sold like tobacco and taxed like it too... Legalize it... resurch it... lets all be super humans... GO HARD: if it was legal... then during drug class... i could take a MJ break while my teacher takes a cigarette break. i hate cigarette smokers. q>: / GO HARD: how to end the debt.... make marijuana legal, free people in jail for it, get rid off the feds and tell them to fuck whatever debt we owe, get the troops from overseas and use our military to defend and protect our borders, get rid of all these useless programs that just give politicians money, decrease the size of our government, quit bailing out big businesses... q; ) Giada Esposito: And guys, I apologize if I've been snarky here. I'm really, really grumpy and tired right now, and it's really the wrong time of the month, like sooo the wrong time. I know, I know, TMI, but I just don't want to bite anyone's head off! B_Type13X2: Nader had some really good idea's but he would never be elected. Hell corporate america tried to assassinate him. What does that tell you? Mtx: Search Argentina crisis in 2001, you are on the way to something similar so you better get ready, just saying... Cryptic_Soldier: I think Jade missed my point... At the current levels of pot smokers or even the level it was 4 years ago, it would not make a scratch... but... IF 85-95% of the US gross population was smokin it I believe it would help. esp if it was all domistically grown harvested and sold. thats alot of new jobs... Lets see there are 307,006,550 or so people in the us... lets call it 300,000,000 of them as the 95% that would be smokin the gange from my origonal post... 300,000,000 * lets say the average person smokes $100 worth a week (not much if you buy quality) *4 for a month and then * 12 for a year = 1,440,000,000,000 Thats 1.44 trillion Dollars in 1 year if we could just get 100$ from 95% of every man woman and child in the US every week... Granted though this is from the NET Gross QTY earned and does not cover overhead... however if the GOV managed its own growing distrobution and such the overhead would not be very high. Cryptic_Soldier: + 42 Billion a year on the war on Pot.... + about 45,000 per inmate per year + If you combine the pot sale and taxation by the govenment with tax increase on the rich and the stop of all tax returns all together (about 300 Billion a year in tax returns) Ceelarence: Sooo, is pot a performance enhancing drug now, or did you guys just go that far off topic?? lol Lady Dragon 420: My man and I smoke 24/7 we could get through that easily. SicJits: I take PED's, but i have glaucoma
