Kurt Pellegrino decides to not renew his UFC contract, instead choosing to take a step back from MMA according to his website.
Pellegrino, otherwise known as Batman, holds a 16-6 record with a recent two fight losing streak to George Sotiropoulos and Gleison Tibau which has caused the 32 year old to rethink his career.
"I want to take the time to regroup, refocus, and rethink what it is that I want to do going forward. I want to do things that I enjoy right now and refresh my mind" Pellegrino wrote.
Since his introduction into the UFC promotion back in 2006, Pellegrino has established himself as a fighter who strives for an exciting affair despite not always being victorious. Holding a 7-5 record in the UFC, he was awarded Fight of the Night and Submission of the Night in his bouts with Thiago Tavares and Fabricio Camoes respectively.
"I don't want to retire, but I need to find myself and find my love for this sport again. Hopefully you will see me in the cage again, but if not, thanks to everyone for the memories, it's been an awesome ride" Pellegrino wrote.
Pellegrino's MMA career spans 11 years, defeating the likes of Mac Danzig, Junior Assuncao, Thiago Tavares and Fabricio Camoes. If "Batman" is really calling it a career, he will surely be missed.
