The UFC announced today that Xtreme Couture's Mike Pyle will replace Chris Wilson, who had to withdraw from his preliminary card bout with Brock Larson due to incomplete medical paperwork. Pyle signed with the UFC earlier this week and he was tapped as a replacement fighter for the welterweight bouts on the fight card.
This is really unfortunate for Wilson as he and his family were recently victims of a home invasion in Brazil. Wilson was looking to rebound from a loss to John Howard at UFC 94 in a bout that earned both fighters "Fight of the Night" honors. Wilson is 1-2 with the UFC, with a loss to Jon Fitch in his organizational debut. His lone victory with organization came over Steve Bruno at UFC 87.
Brock Larson is currently riding a 4-fight win streak, with his most recent win coming over Jesse Sanders at last month's UFN 18. Prior to the win, Larson went 5-1 with the WEC, with his only loss coming against former WEC welterweight champ and current UFC welterweight contender Carlos Condit.
Mike Pyle is currently 6-1 in his last 7 fights, with his last win coming over Brian Gassaway at last October's "Night of Combat II." Pyle sports a 17-5-1 overall MMA record and he has fought around the globe for numerous promotions such as EliteXC, WEC, Strikeforce, Affliction, Sengoku, IFL, Sportfight and Shooto.
