Highly touted lightweight prospect Ronnys Torres will make his long awaited UFC debut at an, as of yet, officially unannounced UFC Fight Night 19 in September. Torres was originally scheduled to make his UFC debut at UFN 18 in April against Melvin Guillard, but a knee injury forced him to withdraw from the bout.
As it stands, Torres is unsure of his opponent but says he's made a fast recovery.
"I'll fight on September 16 (UFC Fight Night 19), but I still have no opponent," Torres told Tatame.com. "I can't imagine who my opponent is. It would be Melvin Guillard, but I got hurt. Regardless of who it will be, I'll be 100% ready to make a great fight. The recovery was great. The doctors said that I would return to the trainings in five, six months, but I was already getting crazy. I did the right recovery with the physiotherapists, it was everything very fast. So, we called the UFC and marked the fight."
Ronnys Torres hasn't fought since defeating Eliene Silvaat Jungle Fight 11 in September 2008 and has won 8 staight bouts. The Shooto veteran sports an impressive 14-1 MMA record, with half of his wins coming via submission. He hasn't lost since 2007 in a fight against Rodrigo Ruiz and he holds a notable win over Chute Boxe's Luiz Azeredo in July 2008.
