Affliction has officially added a middleweight bout to the preliminary portion of its third event as Lucio Linhares will battle Mikhail Zayats in a rematch of their fight last year.
This is the second bout added to Affliction: "Trilogy" pitting M-1 Challenge veterans against each other, as a heavyweight bout between Jessie Gibbs and Rob Broughton was added earlier this week by the promotion.
Lucio Linhares and Mikhail Zayats previously fought at M-1 Challenge 4: "Battle on the Neva 2" last June, where the two put on an exciting back and forth show. Zayats walked away with a close decision victory over Linhares.
Mikhail Zayats has lost two straight, his most recent loss coming against Alexander Machado at M-1 Challenge 15: Brazil last month. Prior to the losses, he won four straight. Zayats sports an 8-3 MMA record, with 4 wins by decision and 4 by submission.
Lucio Linhares is currently in the midst of a 4-fight win streak, with his last win coming over Valdir Araujo earlier this month at M-1 Challenge 16: USA. Linhares holds wins over notables Sean Salmon and Moyses Gabin, while suffering losses against UFC veterans Thales Leites and Tomasz Drwal.
Affliction: "Trilogy" is scheduled for August 1 at takes place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The event will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko and top-ten ranked Josh Barnett.
