Luke Rockhold announces bout against Jesse Taylor on Nov. 6 Strikeforce Challengers card
by Jacob Camargo on October 01, 2009

Middleweight prospect Luke Rockhold recently revealed that his next opponent will be TUF 7 cast member Jesse Taylor at the Strikeforce Challengers: "Evangelista vs. Gurgel" event.

Rockhold broke the news on his Facebook account, and the addition to the card has since been confirmed by ProMMA.info.

However, it is not yet known at what weight division the bout will be fought. The bout is likely to be fought at middleweight as Rockhold usually fights in the 185-pound division. Taylor is flexible as he bounces between the middleweight and welterweight divisions.

Rockhold is currently on a four-fight winning streak, with all of the wins coming by submission under the promotion of Strikeforce. He most recently defeated Cory Devela at June's Strikeforce Challengers: "Villasenor vs. Cyborg." Rockhold sports an MMA record of 5-1, with his lone career loss coming at the hands of Tony Rubalcava at a Melee on the Mountain event in Nov. 2007. He has finished all of his five career wins by first round submission.

Taylor (13-4) is coming off of a loss in his Strikeforce debut against Jay Hieron at last month's Strikeforce: "Carano vs. Cyborg" event. Prior to the loss, he won seven straight fights, including a win in his DREAM debut against Dong Sik Yoon at DREAM 10 in July. Ten of his 13 career wins have come via stoppage. In addition, he holds other notable wins over Jorge Ortiz and Drew Fickett.

Strikeforce Challengers: "Evangelista vs. Gurgel" will take place on Nov. 6 in Fresno, CA. The main card will be televised live on Showtime. The event will be headlined by a lightweight bout between UFC veteran Jorge Gurgel and undefeated rising prospect Billy Evangelista.

The Nov. 6 Challengers event will take place just a day before the much anticipated Strikeforce: "Fedor vs. Rogers" event, which will air live on CBS.
