Luke Rockhold to defend Strikeforce middleweight title against Keith Jardine

Strikeforce middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold, is set to defend his title against UFC veteran, Keith Jardine, on January 7, 2012 according to mmafighting.com.

Rockhold was originally believed to be fighting Tim Kennedy in his first title defense but Kennedy pulled out of the bout with an undisclosed injury.

Rockhold (8-1) captured the Strikeforce middleweight title in his last bout where he fought Ronaldo Souza to a unanimous decision victory. Rockhold is also on a seven fight win streak that includes a win over Ultimate Fighter season seven veteran, Jesse Taylor.

Jardine (17-9-2) made his middleweight debut in his last bout with Gegard Mousasi, fighting to a draw. Jardine has gone 2-1-1 over his last four fights since leaving the UFC.

Currently no other fights have been announced for the January 7 Strikeforce event.
