Lyoto Machida on Jon Jones: "Nobody is invincible"
by Hubert Lau on October 06, 2011

Lyoto Machida is confident as he is given the chance to reclaim his title when he faces the one time defending UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, at UFC 140 according to tatame.com.

Currently Jones is standing in a similar position to where Machida was just two years ago. Armed with an unorthodox style that has left his opponents bewildered and battered in their fights, Jones reigns the UFC's light heavyweight division much like Machida when he first won the title from Rashad Evans at UFC 98.

"It's hard, he's is much versatile and knows a lot of techniques, but we play a similar game. He kicks, I kick, he punches and goes to the ground, I can defend myself and take him down too. Stamina and game plan are things that could define this bout's outcome. Nobody is invincible," said Machida.

Machida declares that his is physically 100 percent ready for his fight with Jones and opts to keep his training camp in Brazil, looking to train with Anderson Silva for preparation. Additionally Machida predicts a strategic duel when he faces Jones at UFC 140.

"It'll be a strategic bout, he's a guy who studies his opponents and so do I...I'll do my job and keep training. My life ain't about money and fame, it's always been training, since I was an amateur. I've always waited for this moment to come to me again," added Machida

UFC 140 is expected to be scheduled on December 10 at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Jones vs. Machida light heavyweight title match is to headlined, complemented by the Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Frank Mir rematch in the co-main event.

 |  (44) Comments snuff: True that. Shogun was the solution to Machida and Machida might be the solution to Jon Jones. I'm really excited as to how they will approach each other. IwishIwasMMA: I am mega pumped for this fight! Great choice by the UFC as a fill in. I give up on the possible thought of the rashad/bones fine. It did not interest me before, and it does not now. With the injuries these two constantly suffer, I think it is time to move on from this potentially poor match up. Wandering_Minstrel: I think Machida has a good chance. He has a very intriguing style. He has amazing takedown defense, hard to hit, and great accuracy in his strikes. I imagine he will do a lot of sparring with Anderson for this fight. If Jones can beat Machida in convincing fashion, I think Jones will be champ for a while... GO HARD: shogun has comed off surgery and looked like crap... thats on nobody but shogun. anderson fought with injured ribs. shogun fought with an injured knee.. aldo fought with an injured toe... Big Nog fought coming off surgery earlier than he should have... hell dominick cruz just fought 4 rounds with a broken hand and won... urijah broke both of his hands against mike brown... franklin knocked out chuck with a broken arm... hominick won round 5 against aldo with an alien growing out of his skull... these are all injuries... everybody fights with them, why is it only this huge deal for shogun?? GO HARD: if i was shogun i would be so pissed that people seperate me as a fighter with good me/ bad me. its rediculous how much i hear that with shogun. his fans need to give that a rest. Cryptic_Soldier: Oh and if you sustain damage during a bout thats not fighting with an injury thats Getting injured while fighting. GO HARD: i understand that shogun is a different fighter when not injured... point being, he goes out there and fights. 50% of the time he is injured... therefore there is no bad shogun or good shogun. its just Shogun. theres an inconsistancy. but its Shogun. youd like to see Shogun et another shot at Jon Jones? thats fine... but it will likely be the same fight... nygiant: Im just grateful to be here nygiant: Hey leave tarzan out of this...
