M-1: "Breakthrough" is officially a wrap. The event took place last night, August 28, from the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas and aired live on in the United States on HDNet and around the world via Internet PPV on www.M-1Global.com.

In the main event of the evening, Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal made a impressive North America debut and he improved his MMA record to 5-0 by defeating veteran Mark Kerr via KO just 25 seconds in the first-round. To begin the bout, Lawal caught a kick from Kerr,and scooped Kerr high into the air and slammed him to the mat, which injured Kerr's shoulder. Once on the ground, Lawal unloaded a barrage of brutal punches, sending Kerr into unconsciousness and  prompting a halt to the bout.

Also featured at the event was a exhibition sparring match between top ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko and Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi. The match was light-hearted yet very competitive as Mousasi actually took Emelianenko down twice in the match and he attempted a armbar early in the match as well as a late omo plata. The back and forth match was put to halt by Emelianenko's superior sambo, which he used to throw Mousasi head-over-heels for the last time and he locked in a fight-ending armbar forcing Mousasi to tap.

Other notable action featured on the main card included highly touted middleweight prospect Karl Amoussou defeating John Doyle via first-round submission and shortly after the fight he announced his intentions to fight for Strikeforce. Middleweight Lucio "The Spartan" Linhares also scored as first-round submission win as he defeated fellow middleweight Mikhail Zayats. Dream veteran Daisuke Nakamura defeated judoka Ferrid Kheder and Jessie Gibbs defeated Rob Broughton via unanimous decision in heavyweight action.
