MFC 21: "Hard Knocks" weigh-in results
by Jacob Camargo on May 15, 2009

The Maximum Fighting Championship's "Hard Knocks" event is all set to go as all fighters matched the scales at yesterday's weigh-ins. MFC 21 takes place tonight, May 15th, from the River Cree Resort and Casino and it will telecast live at 10 p.m. ET on HDNet.

In the headline bout of the stacked event, UFC and Strikeforce veteran Trevor Prangley will challenge current MFC light heavyweight champion Emanuel Newton in his MFC debut. Newton is riding high on a nine fight win streak, with his last win coming against Roger Hollett at MFC 19. Prangley extended his win streak to 2 in his last fight against Isidro Gonzalez in March.

In the co-main event, former WWE superstar Bobby Lashley will take on Mike Cook in a much anticipated heavyweight showdown. Lashley is coming off a win over Jason Guida in March and will be fighting Bob Sapp in a big heavyweight showdown on June 27th. Cook, who is trained by MMA legend Frank Shamrock, snapped a two fight losing streak in his last fight by defeating Carter Williams in March.

Other matchups of note, UFC veteran David Heath will take on Travis Galbraith in a light-heavyweight bout and WEC veteran John Alessio will look to get back to his winning ways against Andrew Buckland in a welterweight tilt. UFC and KOTC veteran Marvin Eastman will meet Aron Lofton in light-heavyweight action.

One incident of note, Jay Whitford weighed in at 214.5 pounds for his bout with Dwayne Lewis, which is 9.5 pounds heavier than the 205-pound limit. The Whitford vs. Lewis bout will still happen, however, Whitford will have to forfeit 25% of his purse to Lewis.
