"If he's ready to go tomorrow, I'll fight him. But supposedly he's not going to be ready for five months. I don't want to wait five months to fight right now. I'm feeling good. If I wait five months, that will give me two months to do [expletive] I don't need to be doing... I want to get back those losses I got. [Mitsuhiro Ishida] and Josh are the guys I really want to fight right now."
-Gilbert Melendez appears to be riding high after his dominant performace last Saturday against Rodrigo Damm at Strikeforce: "Shamrock vs. Diaz". Melendez was scheduled to face Thomson instead of Damm originally, but that fight was scrapped after Thomson tore up his knee. He'll face up to five months of rehab before facing Melendez sometime afterwords. Officials close to the fight have informed FiveKnuckles.com that a match up between the two will occur as soon as Thomson's healed. In the mean time Melendez appears to have unfinished business with Ishida.
