MMA being integrated into popular TV shows

UFC President Dana White is right. Mixed martial arts is increasing in popularity and is finally being immersed into mainstream culture.

In this month alone, two popular television shows have integrated MMA into their series.

This week's episode of Fox's "The Simpsons" shows the popularity rise of MMA in Springfield. The episode, which will air this Sunday, is reported to show Marge protest the sport and then asked to fight.

Last week's episode of NBC's "The Office," which aired on Oct. 1, showed one character fantasize about putting his boss in a triangle choke. Not only that, but in his dream, he also earned $18,000 and a shot at the title.

Other sports have been integrated into mainstream television for years. Finally, MMA is now joining the likes of basketball, tennis and baseball due to its ever-rising recognition. With a mention in the iconic show "The Simpsons," fans can be fairly certain that this will not be the last time they see their sport in mainstream TV.
