Numerous prominent MMA fighters competed this past weekend in professional boxing and Mixed Martial Arts events across the globe. Here's a run down of some of the action you may have missed:
- TUF 2 cast member Seth Petruzelli defeated Chris Baten via first-round TKO in the co-featured bout at Art of Fighting 4. The event took place last night at the University of South Florida's Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida. The win was Petruzelli's third straight and first since defeating previously undefeated street fighting legend Kimbo Slice at Elite XC: "Heat" last October. Also in action at the event was UFC veteran Marcio Cruz. Cruz defeated Tom Sauer in the event's headliner. Notable IFL veteran Delson Heleno was victorious over Tyler Stinson also.
- At DEEP 43rd Impact, which took place earlier today, UFC and Pride Veteran Ryo Chonan returned to his winning ways by defeating Jutaro Nakao in the main event. The event went down at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Chonan was recently released from the UFC following two straight losses against Brad Blackburn and TJ Grant. In other notable action, DREAM and Pride veteran Masakazu Imanari retained his bantamweight crown by defeating Tomohiko Hori and former UFC fighter Dokonjonosuke Mishima lost his featherweight title to Takafumi Otsuka.
- UFC, Strikeforce and Affliction veteran Terry Martin moved his pro boxing record to 2-0 by knocking out Rayvon Wilson (0-6-1) in the second-round of their bout held Friday at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana. Martin made his pro boxing debut in April 2008, which he also won by knockout. He lost his last two MMA fights with his most recent loss coming against middleweight prospect Zak Cummings at XCF: "Rumble in Racetown 1" in February.
- Former EliteXC lightweight champion KJ Noons also had a boxing match this weekend in which he scored a unanimous decision win over Randy Pogue (8-9-2). The event was held Saturday at the PALA Casino Spa and Resort in Pala, California. Since making his pro boxing debut in June 2004, he has put together a 11-2 record. Noons is 6-1 in his last seven MMA bouts, but hasn't fought since defeating Yves Edwards in June 2008.
