Main event at UFC on FX pits Melvin Guillard against Jim Miller
by Hubert Lau on November 18, 2011

The main event for UFC on FX is set; Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller will battle in a lightweight tilt according to ufc.com.

This matchup is notable since both men were on a short list of lightweight contenders not long ago.

Guillard (29-9-2 (1 no contest) has been a standout in the UFC lightweight division for a long time. Blessed with athletic ability and knockout power in his punches, Guillard was last defeated by Joe Lauzon in his last bout at UFC 136, snapping a five fight win streak.

Miller (20-3) also tallied up a long unbeaten streak, seven consecutive wins, before suffering a unanimous decision loss to Ben Henderson at UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle. Miller defeated the likes of Charles Oliveira and Mac Danzig during that seven fight win streak.

This fight is pivotal for Guillard and Miller, where a win can re-establish the victor as a contender and a loss will only set back title aspirations even more with a two fight losing streak.

UFC on FX 1 is scheduled on January 20, 2012 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Other bouts include welterweights, Josh Neer fighting Duane Ludwig. A heavyweight scrap pits Pat Barry against Christian Morecraft.
