Marcus Davis pens autobiography about family
by Natalia Baage on May 15, 2010

UFC welterweight fighter Marcus Davis is currently in the process of writing an autobiography, dealing with his family life as a child to his family life now.

He broke the news Thursday night to Shambala Sports Radio, saying that while it has been a work in progress for a year and a half, he's looking to finalize the project soon.

"We're in negotiations now with one company and one writer in particular, but there have been other offers," he said. "So it looks like we're gonna finally come to an agreement and do something here."

While the book will include stories from his careers as a professional boxer and mixed martial artist, Davis will also concentrate on his family life.

"I'm excited to be able to tell my family's history - as dysfunctional as it is - from growing up as a kid," he said. "Friends who know me and know my history see me with my kids now - and how much involved I am with my children and my fiancee, and how much we're involved in the church, and what we try to do here to raise our kids good - compared to how I grew up."

Davis joins the list of MMA stars who have written books, including Randy Couture, Chuck Liddell, Matt Hughes, Forrest Griffin, B.J. Penn and, most recently, referee Big John McCarthy.

"It's been a really crazy ride, man," he said, "and I got a lot of good stories."
