Marcus Davis to face Jonathan Goulet at UFC 113
by Jacob Camargo on January 10, 2010

Struggling welterweights Marcus Davis and Jonathan Goulet will look to get back in the win column when they square off at UFC 113 in May. News of the match up was first being reported by MMA Fighting, which states that both camps have verbally agreed to the fight.

Davis was first being rumored to be facing Phil Baroni at UFC 111 on March 27 in N.J., however, the bout never materialized, and Baroni also has stated that he plans to take some time off.

Davis (16-6) is currently on a two-fight losing streak, suffering back-to-back defeats to Dan Hardy at UFC 99 in June and a devastating first-round knockout loss at the hands of Ben Saunders at UFC 106 last month. Prior to the losses, he had won two straight fights against Paul Kelly and Chris Lytle.

Davis has put together a 8-4 UFC record, with other notable Octagon wins over Paul Taylor, Shonie Carter and Pete Spratt.

Goulet (22-10) has not fought since suffering a 33-second knockout loss to Mike Swick at UFC Fight Night 16: "Fight for the Troops" in December 2008. He was originally set to face Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 100 in July, however, he was forced out of the event after he suffered a dislocated shoulder in training.

Prior to the loss against Swick, Goulet has been victorious in three straight fights, which included wins in back-to-back UFC fights against Paul Georgieff and Kuniyoshi Hironaka. He sports an even 4-4 record with the UFC, with other Octagon wins over Jay Hieron and Luke Cummo.

Goulet has been competing professionally for eight years, fighting for other notable promotions such as TKO, SuperBrawl, King of the Cage and Extreme Challenge. He has finished 19 of his 22 career wins, and holds other notable career wins over the likes of Jeff Joslin, Travis Galbraith, John Alessio, Tony Fryklund and Shonie Carter.

Though not officially announced, UFC 113 is tentatively set to take place on May 1 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The event is expected to be headlined by a light-heavyweight title rematch between champion Lyoto Machida and challenger Mauricio "Shogun" Rua.
