A welterweight bout between Marius Zaromskis and Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos is in the works for the Strikeforce: "Los Angeles" event in June, according to report from MMAFighting.com.
Zaromskis (13-4) is the current Dream welterweight champion and his title will not be on the line when he takes on Santos. He most recently suffered a first round TKO loss to Nick Diaz in his Strikeforce debut for the promotion's vacant welterweight title at January's Strikeforce: "Miami" event.
Prior to the loss, Zaromskis won five straight fights, which included three straight head-kick knockout wins over Hayato Sakurai, Jason High and Myeon Ho Bae. The longtime Cage Rage veteran has been competing professionally for 10 years and has finished all but one of his 13 career wins including 10 by TKO or KO.
Santos (17-13) is coming off of a first-round TKO win over Daniel Zarate at Samurai Fight Combat 2 in December. He previously lost two straight fights, which included a loss in his Strikeforce debut against Joey Villasenor last June in a middleweight contest.
Santos, who is the husband of Strikeforce woman's 145-pound champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos, has competed all over the world throughout his 12-year career, fighting for other notable promotions such as Cage Rage, Jungle Fight, Pancrese, Pride, Hardcore Championship Fighting and Sengoku. He has scored stoppages in 15 of his 17 career victories.
Strikeforce: "Los Angeles" takes place on June 16 from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California and will be held in conjunction with the E3 Expo, which is a popular video game convention.
The event is headlined by a 195-catchweight bout between Robbie Lawler and Renato "Babalu" Sobral. Bobby Lashley and KJ Noons will also be featured on the card against as of yet unknown opponents.
