Mark Hominick: "Aldo hasn't faced a top elite striker like myself."

Mark Hominick explains why he deserves to face featherweight champion Jose Aldo when Aldo returns from injury in March. 

Hominick (19-8) is riding a 4-fight winning streak and is coming off a split decision win over highly regarded Leonard Garcia at WEC 51. He's set to face George Roop at UFC Fight for the Troops 2 next Saturday. With a win he's been guaranteed a title shot. 

Hominick also holds notable wins over Yves Edwards, George Gurjel, and Danny Martinez.

He is every bit as good or better as a technical striker, over Aldo but Jose has more power and will likely hurt Hominick and stop him if they fight. I wouldn't put it past Roop to derail this fight anyways. thug4less: Hominick hasn't exactly impressed me with his striking. That's really irritating to me how dudes talk that kind of crap to champs. I know they have to talk themselves up to get into the game but I just can't take him seriously when he says that kind of crap. Sure, maybe Aldo hasn't faced a striker as "elite" as he is, but the "I'm going to be in his face". Yeah, that turned out so well for Swanson and Brown, who pretty much had the same idea and said the same crap. Be a little bit humble, brother. Sheesh. mike5k: He should stop putting the cart before the horse and worry about Roop. He is right to an extent though. Faber's a good striker but Aldo was a stylistic nightmare for his karate stance. I don't think Hominick is quick enough to deal with Jose's versatile stand up game and obvious power advantage. D_V: I think Hominuck is quick enough and technical enough. He's going to lose to Aldo if they fight because of power. He is the better technical striker.
