With a win over George Roop at UFC Fight for the Troops 2 on Jan. 22, Mark Hominick will earn a shot at UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo for the 145-pound title at UFC 129 on April 30 in Toronto. The news was announced Tuesday by UFC President Dana White.
Hominick (19-8) upped his winning streak to four-straight after taking out Leonard Garcia in September and holds other notable wins over Yves Edwards, Jorge Gurgel, and Danny Martinez.
Aldo (18-1) is coming off a big win over Manny Gamburyan also back in September, but was recently forced out of his UFC debut at UFC 125 with a compact vertebrae.
UFC 129 will be headlined by a welterweight championship fight between Georges St-Pierre and Jake Shields and will co-feature a light heavyweight showdown between Randy Couture vs. Lyoto Machida.
