Mark Hominick's new opponent for WEC 46 is Bryan Caraway
by Jacob Camargo on December 25, 2009

A featherweight bout between veteran Mark Hominick and WEC newcomer Bryan Caraway has been booked for January's WEC 46 event after Hominick's original opponent Yves Jabouin withdrew from the event due to an undisclosed injury. News of the change was first reported by MMAjunkie.com.

The addition of Hominick vs. Caraway to  the preliminary card completes the WEC 46 fight card, with a official announcement from the WEC likely coming in the next few days.

WEC 46 takes place on Jan. 10 at the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, Calif., and will be headlined by a lightweight title unification bout between WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner and interim title holder Ben Henderson.

Hominick (16-8) is 3-1 in his last four bouts, however, he has not fought since defeating Savant Young at Affliction: "Banned" in July 2008. He will be looking to pick up his first WEC win, as he has dropped two previous bouts in the promotion against Rani Yahya and Josh Grispi.

The UFC and TKO veteran has finished 13 of his 16 career wins and holds notable victories during his seven-year career over the likes of Yves Edwards and Jorge Gurgel.

Caraway (14-3) is currently on a three-fight winning streak, most recently defeating Eddie Pelczynski via first-round submission in October. Prior to the wins, he suffered the third loss of his four-year career at the hands of Wilson Reis at EliteXC: "Unfinished Business" in July 2008.

Caraway has fought for an array of notable promotions throughout his career such as Strikeforce, SportFight and International Fighting Championship. He has finished all but one of his 14 career wins, including 12 coming by submission, and holds notable career wins over the likes of Noah Thomas and Alex Zuniga.
