Marloes Coenen, Valentijn Overeem, and Jon Olav Einemo are the three recent cuts made by Zuffa according to bloodyelbow.com.
Coenen and Valentijn were removed from the Strikeforce roster while Olav Einemo received his walking papers from the UFC. What these three fighters have in common is their relation to the Golden Glory gym, where Alistair Overeem also trains from.
Alistair, younger brother to Valentijn, had a falling out with Zuffa recently after his refusal to compete in Strikeforce's heavyweight grand prix semi-final round against Antonio Silva due to an injured toe. His removal from the heavyweight tournament also led him to be stripped of his Strikeforce heavyweight title.
It remains to be seen if Alistair's relation with Zuffa had any effect on the recent cuts of his teammates.
Both Valentijn and Olav Einemo were approaching the twilight of their careers and were defeated in their recent bouts so their release seemed inevitable.
Contrastingly, Coenen still represented one of the top talents within women's MMA despite losing her last bout and her Strikeforce Women's bantamweight title against Miesha Tate.
The future for the three fighters varies but careers in other promotions such as Bellator or the revised ProElite are viable options.
Sergei Kharitonov is the sole Golden Glory member who's still under the Zuffa banner. He is scheduled to fight Josh Barnett on September 10 at Strikeforce' heavyweight grand prix semi-final round. The winner of the tournament might be the owner of the heavyweight title as Strikeforce CEO, Scott Coker, pointed out recently.
