Two more welterweight bouts, Matt Brown vs. Chris Cope and Justin Edwards vs. Mike Stumpf, has been add to UFC 143 according to ufc.com.
Brown (12-11) is a veteran of The Ultimate Fighter season eight and initially debuted in the UFC with a 4-1 record, losing only to then unbeaten Dong Hyun Kim. Although always exciting, he will likely be fighting for his UFC career when he meets Cope. Brown is currently sporting a 1-4 record over five fights, last losing to Seth Baczynski at UFC 139 via guillotine choke.
Cope (5-2) also a member of The Ultimate Fighter, season 13, last fought at UFC 138 against Che Mills. Cope was outmatched early on as Mills' superior striking battered Cope to a TKO defeat just 40 seconds into the first round.
Matchup wise, Brown has show his susceptibility to the ground game as all his recent four losses have come via submission. As such look for Cope to take the fight to the ground while Brown will likely try to keep it a standup affair.
Justin Edwards (7-2) last fought at UFC 138 and was out grappled by John Maguire en route to a unanimous decision defeat. Edwards sits at 1-2 in the UFC and will likely need a win to avoid being cut from the promotion.
Mike Stumpf (11-3) will look to notch his first UFC win after an unsuccessful debut at UFC Fight Night 25 against T.J. Waldburger, losing via triangle choke in the first round. Stumpf was a 5-1 run prior to the defeat.
UFC 143 is scheduled on February 4, 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nick Diaz is set to fight Carlos Condit in the main event for the UFC's interim welterweight title.
