Matt Hughes: "I have no interest in fighting Koscheck. He's just a kid."
by Gavin Vincent on September 23, 2009

"I find Koscheck calling me out kind of interesting and I actually don't know why he is doing that. I was used to kids doing this when I was the champ, but as you know, I don't have the belt now and I'm puzzled as to why Koscheck wants to fight me and not the champion in the weight class. I have no interest in fighting Koscheck and, as he was showing everybody, he's just a kid. As of yet, the UFC has never come to me and asked me to fight him." -Matt Hughes

Matt Hughes weighs-in on Josh Koscheck's interest in fighting him. Moments after Koscheck defeated Frank Trigg at UFC 103, he told color commentator, Joe Rogan, he'd like to fight Matt Hughes or current champion, Georges St. Pierre.

Hughes (43-7), a former nine-time UFC welterweight champion, recently signed a new contract with the UFC that will extend the Illinois native's decorated career.

Mike Swick also expressed his desire to fight the returning Hughes after he was forced out of his last bout with Martin Kampmann due to a Grade 2 concussion he suffered while training. No opponents have been named at this time, however, it appears Hughes is already a "marked man" upon returning to the UFC's welterweight division.
