Matt Mitrione: Fight against Kimbo Slice could have gone better
by Natalia Baage on May 09, 2010

While Matt Mitrione walked away with a dominant and slightly-shocking win over Kimbo Slice at UFC 113, he believes that the fight could have gone better.

"I made entirely too many mistakes last night," he wrote today on his Facebook account. "I got obsessed with the headkick and abandoned the game plan. I have to get used to the adrenaline dump also. Hell, its my second pro fight and I'm learning. Rome wasn't built in a day but I expected more of it to be built by now."

The fight let Mitrione, now 2-0, showcase his stand up as well as his ground game. In post-fight interviews, he stated that he was very surprised that the fight went to the ground so early.

While Mitrione did not take too much punishment during the fight, he is still dealing with some injuries, including a very sore back and left foot, walking around "like an 80-year-old."

The former NFL player, who, admittedly, is not a fan favorite, knows that there are people in the MMA community who want to see him win and improve his game with each victory.

"Thank you to all that watched and were pulling for me," Mitrione wrote. "It means more than you'll ever know. Happy Mothers Day!!!"
