Undefeated UFC heavyweight, Matt Mitrione, feels that he is in the best shape as he prepares for his upcoming bout with Cheick Kongo according to mmafighting.com.
"I feel like I am a very, very dangerous human being right now," Mitrione said.
Mitrione is currently undefeated, riding a five fight win streak since his stint on the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter. For "Meathead", his last bout was a second round knockout of Christian Morecraft that gave Mitrione four stoppages in his five fights.
"I promise you I'm ready to scrap. I've put in so much work. I'm ready, I'm excited, I'm not over trained. I feel I'm ready to go. I'm going to give a wonderful performance. If Cheick wins, damn good job but I really feel I'm going to give a hell of a run for it," Mitrione said.
Kongo (16-6-2) will definitely be Mitrione's stiffest test to date, possessing heavy hands that have led to 10 TKO/KO of his 16 victories. Kongo's last bout was a stunning come from behind knockout win against Pat Barry at UFC on Versus 5.
"I feel better right now than I ever have in my life," he said. "If Cheick's lucky enough to beat me, he beat the very best product I could put out there. The very best," Mitrione said.
Mitrione and Kongo are set to battle at UFC 137 on October 29, 2011 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by a welterweight title match between George St. Pierre defending against Carlos Condit. Nick Diaz set to scrap with BJ Penn in the co-main event.
