Although they were originally rumored to fight at UFC 117 on August 7 in Oakland, California, "The Ultimate Fighter" season 10 cast member Matt Mitrione and rising heavyweight prospect Joey Beltran are now reportedly in talks to meet at UFC 119 in September.
It is too early to tell if the fight between Mitrione and Beltran will make the televised main card portion of UFC 119 or appear on the event's un-aired preliminary portion.
Mitrione, who is also a veteran of the National Football League, most recently defeated Kimbo Slice via second round TKO at UFC 113 on May 8. The win pushed his career record to 2-0, as he was previously successful in his professional MMA debut, scoring a second round knockout win over Marcus Jones at the TUF 10 Finale in December.
Beltran (12-3) is currently riding a three fight winning streak, which includes wins in his first two UFC fights against Rolles Gracie in his Octagon debut at UFC 109 in February and Tim Hague, which also took place UFC 113 earlier this month.
Since turning pro in February 2007, Beltran has fought for other notable promotions such as King of the Cage, Strikeforce, Total Combat and Bellator. He has finished all but one of his 12 career wins including 10 via TKO, and holds other notable career victories over the likes of Wes Combs, Sherman Pendergarst and Houston Alexander.
The as-of-yet announced UFC 119 event is being targeted to take place on September 25 at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. It will mark the promotion's debut in Indiana.
There are no other rumored fights for the card yet, however, expect popular UFC welterweight and Indianapolis-native Chris Lytle to appear on the card if he don't suffer any serious injuries in his upcoming fight against Matt brown at UFC 116 on July 3 in Las Vegas.
