Former UFC welterweight champion, Matt Serra, will return to the Octagon at the Feb. 6 event.
Serra has accepted to be on the unannounced February card, even though an opponent is yet to be found for him. According to FanHouse.com, Frank Trigg is rumored to be a top-runner to face him, however, Serra would not confirm or deny any reports.
Serra also wants to engage in a rematch with his rival Matt Hughes. Serra lost a close decision to Hughes at UFC 98 in May.
"There's no way you are going to tell me I lost that last fight," Serra told FanHouse. "I don't care. I mean, whatever, I don't care what the judges say. There was one guy trying to end that and there was one guy trying to squeak out a victory, you know? That's pretty much my take on it. I thought I won the first and the third round."
While both men had stated that their rivalry was over, and Hughes said that he wants to move on, Serra is asking for a rematch.
Serra is also interested in a thurd fight against current welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre. He and St. Pierre have fought twice before, splitting victories.
One thing that Serra is intent on is fighting in his home state of New York. While sanctioned fighting is currently illegal in New York, Serra has tried to get that overturned. UFC President Dana White previously stated that he is looking to book an event in New York at Madison Square Garden when MMA becomes legal in that state.
Since his last fight in the Octagon - the loss to Hughes in May - Serra has been working on building a gym in Long Island. A date for the opening has not yet been set, but it is reported to be opening soon.
