The H.I.T. Squad's Matt Veach will step in for the injured Kurt Pellegrino and dive head first into the deep end of the UFC's lightweight division when he squares off against contender Frankie Edgar at TUF 10 finale on Dec. 5 at The Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas, NV. Veach was first mentioned as a possible replacement for Pellegrino in a recent report from MMAFanHouse.com.

Edgar has since confirmed that he is facing Veach on his official Twitter account.

"Due to pelligrino pulling because of injury, looks like I will be fighting the tough Matt Veach Dec 5th." said Edgar in the post.

Edgar's original TUF 10 finale opponent, Kurt Pellegrino, was forced off of the event with a back injury. Pellegrino has three herniated discs in his back and is required to have at least three weeks of rest.

By accepting to replace Pellegrino, Veach has vacated his scheduled lightweight bout against Mark Bocek, which was set to appear on the preliminary portion of TUF 10 finale card. No word yet on who will replace Veach in the bout against Bocek.

Veach opened up his UFC career in impressive fashion, defeating Matt Grice via first-round TKO in his UFC debut at February's UFN 17 event. He hasn't fought since then as he was supposed to make his second octagon appearance at UFC 102 in August, however, he was forced off the event with a back injury.

Veach sports an undefeated 11-0 MMA record, scoring stoppage wins in all but one of his 11 career victories. He holds notable wins during his three year career over the likes of Matt MacGrath and Alex Carter.

Edgar (10-1) has won his last two bouts in the UFC, which includes wins over Hermes Franca, and a very impressive win over former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk at UFC 98 in May of this year.

Headlining TUF 10 finale is a light-heavyweight contest between rising contender Jon "Bones" Jones and TUF 3 cast member Matt Hamill. Also featured, a battle between the top two heavyweight finalists from the 10th season of the Ultimate Fighter reality series.
