Mauricio "Shogun" Rua: "I'm sure that I won. They gave him the victory because some [other] interests."
by Gavin Vincent on October 27, 2009

"It was a tough fight. I knew that Lyoto was good, but I could put my rhythm on. I'm sure that I won. Everybody thinks that I won. I talked with a lot of people here and they thought that I won, but unfortunately I think that they gave him the victory because some interests. Everyone was surprised with what happened in the end, but what can I do? In my point of view, being fair, I won four rounds. People thought the same - Dana White, Lorenzo [Fertitta], Rickson Gracie was beside us... Everyone gave me the victory."  - Mauricio "Shogun" Rua

Just 25 minutes after UFC 104, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua went back to his hotel room to review his controversial loss to defending champion Lyoto Machida. Rua caught up with Tatame.com and expressed his conflicting views of the decision and thinks that he definitely won four rounds.

Rua is not the only person to see error in the judges decision, as UFC President Dana White admitted to poor judging and even agreed to schedule an immediate rematch at the post-fight press conference.
