Dream announced today the addition of two middleweight bouts to its DREAM 12 event. The additions include Melvin Manhoef taking on Zelg Galesic, and former WEC middleweight champion Paulo Filho facing Korean judoka Dong Sik Yoon.
Dream 12 takes place on Oct. 25 at Osaka Castle Hall in Osaka, Japan, and the event airs in North America on HDNet. The event will be DREAM's first ever caged fight card.
Manhoef (23-6-1) most recently suffered a unanimous decision loss to Remy Bonjasky in K-1 action late last month. He has not fared too well in MMA as of late as he is 1-2 in his last three bouts, losing to Gegard Mousasi and Paulo Filho. His only win over that time came against Mark Hunt. The longtime K-1 Hero's veteran has finished an astounding 22 of his 23 career wins by TKO or KO.
His opponent, Galesic (9-4) has not fought since DREAM 6 in Aug. 2008, where he was defeated by Ronaldo Souza in the semi-final round of the DREAM Middleweight Grand Prix. Prior to the loss, he had won three straight fights, including his first two bouts in DREAM against Magomed Sultanakhmedov and Taiei Kin. The former Cage Rage Middleweight champion has finished all nine of his career wins including seven by TKO or KO.
Filho (18-1) has reeled off two straight wins over the likes of Melvin Manhoef and Alex Schoenauer. He seems to have his life back on track after bouts with depression and addiction to prescription drugs. His personal troubles led to his lone career loss to Chael Sonnen WEC 36 last November. The longtime Pride veteran holds notable wins over the likes of Amar Suloev, Ryo Chonan, Joe Doerksen and Kazuo Misaki.
Yoon (4-7) is currently riding a three-fight losing streak, with the losses coming against Gegard Mousasi, Andrews Nakahara and Jesse Taylor. In the loss to Taylor, the bout was stopped due to injury when he he injured his foot after Taylor shot for a takedown. Prior to the losses, he had put together four straight wins over the likes of Melvin Manhoef, Zelg Galesic, Fabio Silva and Shungo Oyama. The Pride and K-1 Hero's veteran has three of his four career wins by submission.
