Michael Bisping in talks to face Dan Miller at UFC 114 in May
by Jacob Camargo on March 02, 2010

A middleweight bout between faltering contenders Michael Bisping and Dan Miller is under discussion to take place on the televised main card of UFC 114 on May 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV. News of the bout was first reported by MMAjunkie.com.

Bisping (18-3) is 1-2 in his last three bouts, and is fresh off of a close unanimous decision loss to Wanderlei Silva at UFC 110 on Feb. 20. The Ultimate Fighter 3 winner has put together an 8-3 UFC record, scoring other notable Octagon wins over Eric Schafer, Elvis Sinosic, Matt Hamill, Chris Leben and Denis Kang in his previous bout; while suffering his only other UFC and career losses to Dan Henderson and Rashad Evans.

Prior to joining the UFC, Bisping competed for notable U.K. promotions such as Cage Rage and Cage Warriors Fighting Championships. He has finished 16 of his 18 career wins and holds other notable career wins over the likes of Ross Pointon and Alex Cook.

Miller (11-3) has lost his last two bouts against the likes of Chael Sonnen and most recently Demian Maia at UFC 109 last month. Prior to the losses, he was unbeaten in 10 fights, which included wins in his first three UFC bouts over Rob Kimmons, Matt Horwich and Jake Rosholt.

Miller has fought the majority of his four-year career on the east coast for notable promotions such as Reality Fighting, Cage Fury Fighting Championships, IFL and Ring of Combat. He has scored stoppages in eight of his 11 career wins, including seven coming by submission, and he holds other notable career wins over Ryan McGivern and John Howard.

Though not yet officially announced, UFC 114 is expected to be headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between former UFC 205-lbs. champions and bitter rivals, Rashad Evans and Quinton Jackson. Other bouts expected to be featured on the main card include Forrest Griffin vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, and John Hathaway vs. Diego Sanchez.

 |  (15) Comments The Hitman: should be an easy win for bisping. he needs it. he has really been on the downward spiral latley Giada Esposito: This is a huge opportunity for Miller. If Bisping can keep the fight standing he should be able to win easily, but Miller's a better fighter than his recent record indicates. Miller has the potential to pull a big upset here. Joe Rimmer: I think this is a really even match-up. Millers better on the ground, Bisping on the feet. I think if Bisping can avoid submissions and keep the fight standing he will outwork Miller for a decision. But it certainly could go the other way. Huge consequences for the winner or loser of this I think. GO HARD: bisping will win this... q; ) Mickey knox: Bisping has the advantage in the sense that the fight starts standing. Other than that, this fight could go either way. The only way for Bisping to win is by either decision or TKO, which he can do, but I don't see him knocking him out cold ever, and if he does rock Miller, Miller would probably just fall to his back and be ready to pull guard, and there's no telling how eager Bisping may get to finishing it. I could see him falling into a trap just as easilly as I could see Miller getting rocked bad enough to not be able to fully utilize his BJJ. This is s dangerous fight for both of them. I think Bisping would probably fare better with a loss though than Miller would. At least he's got the whole 'UK's golden boy' thing going, although, I could see Daley taking that spotlight from him pretty soon here. IwishIwasMMA: I got Miller to be honest. I find that if Bisping cannot take you down and effectively GNP you recently, he is not nearly as dangerous. I doubt he will get Miller down though, not to mention I can see Miller getting him down. hydro5135: i have to say bisping looks like he is working on that punching power he still needs to remeber that weak point strikes don't work. he busted open wandys chin pretty good though. HappyHamer: I've got Bisping, probably by a UD. Maia beat Miller standing, and Bispings striking is much more technical than Maia's, and his takedown defense is good enough to keep the fight standing. Castle: I like the match up and would love to see this fight. Pretty much like everyone else said I see Bisping winning on the feet and Miller on the ground. I think Miller can get the V if this fight happens.
