Michael Bisping bruised and battered Jason "Mayhem" Miller to a third round TKO at TUF 14 finale and look tired after the bout but Bisping insists that cardio is not an issue according to bloodyelbow.com.
"I don't think the cardio was an issue. I don't think anyone's cardio was the issue. Did you see the pace of the fight? You see how many punches I was throwing?" Bisping said.
Bisping certainly dictated the pace as he landed more strikes, 150, than Dan Henderson did, 113, in his recent five round war against Mauricio Rua at UFC 139. Bisping also threw 244 strikes which was just 49 less than the 293 threw by Rua in his UFC 139 fight with Henderson.
"My cardio wasn't an issue. Far from it. I feel it was a fast pace, and whilst I was tired, I was able to keep the pace up," Bisping said.
It was that pace that earned him a win over Miller who began to fade in their bout's second round. Noticeably fatigued, Miller was finished in the third when Bisping landed numerous unanswered punches and knees to Miller's body.
The win is Bisping's fourth in a row which puts him closer to his desired title shot. Chael Sonnen vs. Mark Munoz set for UFC on Fox 2 with the winner getting the next crack at Anderson Silva's UFC middleweight title. Bisping will likely need to secure another win before his own title contention.
