Miguel Torres (39-3) looks to claw his way back to the 135 pound title when he takes on Brad Pickett at UFC 130 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
After an amazing 17 wins in a row, including four in the WEC, Torres suffered a serious setback with two straight losses. He relinquished his title to Brian Bowles and then got caught in a guillotine choke from Team Alpha Male product Joseph Benavidez. Torres has rebounded with two straight victories over Banuelos and Charlie Valencia.
Across the Octagon from Torres will be Brad "One Punch" Pickett (20-5), a scrappy fighter out of Britain. Pickett comes into the bout with a 3-1 record in the WEC. His lone loss came to previous title contender Scott Jorgensen. Prior to that he handed Demetrious Johnson the only loss of his career.
The winner will be putting themselves in prime position to take on the eventual champion once Dominick Cruz comes back from his hand injury. Cruz will put his title on the line against fan favorite Urijah Faber when he does return.
The rumored bouts for UFC 130 now include:
Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard III (Lightweight Championship)
Quinton Jackson vs. Matt Hamill
Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson
Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann
