Mike Pyle (21-7-1) vs. Rory MacDonald (11-1) is set to go down at UFC 133, according to UFC.com.
UFC 133 is set for August 6 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Mike Pyle has had a resurgence as of late within the UFC. After a mediocre start to his UFC career, Pyle has managed to reel off three consecutive victories. His most recent fight was an impressive unanimous decision victory over Ricardo Almeida at UFC 128. Prior to that, Pyle was matched up with the Brit John Hathaway. Hathaway was being billed as the next big thing at 170 after his victory over Diego Sanchez, but was no match for Pyle. Pyle controlled every aspect of the bout and took home a lopsided decision victory.
Canadian Rory MacDonald was a mere seven seconds away from an unblemished record. MacDonald took on Carlos Condit in his second fight in the UFC at UFC 115. MacDonald came roaring out of the gates, dropping Condit in the opening round and clearly winning the second frame as well. Condit turned the tides in the third and eventually earned a TKO stoppage with a meager seven seconds remaining on the clock. MacDonald finally entered the cage again at UFC 129, where he dominated Nate Diaz for three straight rounds. The Canadian took home the unanimous decision victory.
UFC 133 is currently headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Rashad Evans and Phil Davis. A featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes may also take place at the event.
