Antonio Minotauro Nogueira wants a shot at the heavyweight title. If he can't get that, he wants a rematch to avenge his last loss.
Nogueira (32-5-1-1 MMA), who became a heavyweight contender again after his UFC 102 victory over Randy Couture last month, told Fanhouse.com that he is ready for his next fight, and is eager to receive his next fight date.
"I want Brock Lesnar for sure," Nogueira said. "I want to fight him. But I would fight Frank Mir also. That's my second choice."
Mir defeated Nogueira last Dec. at UFC 92 in a fight that led many spectators to believe that he was no longer a contender in the heavyweight division. Most people did not know that Nogueira had been struggling with a bad case of staph infection and a knee injury not too long before the bout.
However, his win over Couture set the record straight, and he is currently ready and dedicated to win the heavyweight belt. Nogueira has continued to diet and exercise in order to stay in shape for an upcoming fight.
"I want to fight soon," he said. "I didn't have any serious injuries after the fight [against Couture], and I feel good."
Noguiera said that he helped Junior dos Santos train for his last bout in order to stay in shape. That way, he said, he would be able to accept any fight date, no matter how close it is to the present day, because he will already be in fighting shape.
"I won't have an excuse that I need time to train," said Nogueira.
As of yet, an opponent for Nogueira has not yet been named.
