Light-heavweight prospect Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal and MMA legend Don Frye will reportedly battle it out at a yet unannounced M-1 Global event on August 29 in Los Angeles, CA.
Lawal is coming off the first decision win of his young career against Ryo Kawamura at Sengoku Seventh Battle back in March. With the win, Lawal is now off to a 4-0 start in his MMA career, all wins coming under the Sengoku banner. The Division I all-American Oklahoma state wrestler exploded onto the MMA scene by scoring a big upset win over the very seasoned Travis Wiuff in his MMA debut at Sengoku 5 last September and followed that up with two subsequent wins via TKO over Fabio Silva and Yukiya Naito respectively.
The longtime Pride and UFC veteran, Frye, 43, is coming off an impressive first-round submission win over Rich Moss at Shark Fights 4 in May. Eighteen of Frye's twenty career wins have come via stoppage. Frye has been competing professionally in MMA for over 13 years, with his first event dating all the way back to UFC 8 in 1996. He has put together notable wins in his illustrous career over Gary Goodridge, David "Tank" Abbott, Ken Shamrock and Yoshihiro Takayama at Pride 21 in a bout that was a brawl for the ages.
