Nakamura Tests Positive for Marijuana, Banned Until December

The California State Athletic Commission issued a press release today stating that Kazuhiro Nakamura has tested positive for marijuana. He was subsequently fined $500 dollars and is banned from competition until December 21.

Nakamura (11-6), a well known MMA fighter from Japan, lost by unanumous at UFC 76 to undefeated Lyoto Machida. A veteran mixed martial artist with the Japanese-based PRIDE promotion, Nakamura (11-6) lost a three-round decision to Lyoto Machida on the UFC 76 card in Anaheim.

The press release also specified that no other fighter from the event tested positive for drugs, but cautioned that steroid testing is still pending.
