Nam Phan and Mike Thomas Brown set to fight at UFC 133
by Tim Groves on May 11, 2011

Nam Phan (16-8) will face off against Mike Brown (24-8) at UFC 133, the UFC announced via Twitter earlier today.

UFC 133 takes place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 6.

Nam Phan is coming off of what many fans consider to be one of the worst judging decisions in the history of mixed martial arts. Phan fought against Leonard Garcia at The Ultimate Fighter Season 12 Finale and despite controlling the action for all three rounds and landing much more effectively, lost the fight via split decision. It was Phan's first fight since his stint on The Ultimate Fighter, which saw him lose in the semi-finals.

The former featherweight champion is in hot water with the UFC after two straight defeats. Brown was heavily favored in both fights against Diego Nunes and Rani Yahya but lost to both via decision. The American Top Team fighter was once one of the most feared guys at 145 pounds. He successfully ended Urijah Faber's reign as champion and defended his title two times. Eventually Brown ran into Jose Aldo and surrendered his belt to the dynamic Brazilian. He has gone 2-3 since the loss.

Wandering_Minstrel: This is an extremely tough fight for both guys and I almost don't like it for that fact because I like both fighters. GO HARD: war mike. i hope he does good this one. hes been on a tear... and not a good one. illegalpoke: Alright! Mike gets another go! Good news man. :) Marker28: This is sink or swim for mike.
