The Ultimate Fighter season 12 alum, Nam Phan, looks for a flawless performance in his upcoming bout with Mike Brown at UFC 133 on August 6 according to mmajunkie.com.
"He's (Brown) got cardio for days, good wrestling, good jiu-jitsu, good power. What do I possibly bring to the table?" Phan said.
Although humble, Phan is no slouch. He is a 10 year veteran of the sport who has competed in K-1, WEC, Sengoku, Strikeforce and now in the UFC. Complementing his experience is his expertise in numerous martial arts, holding a black belt in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and karate. Phan holds 12 stoppage wins, seven TKO/KO and five submissions, of his 16 victories.
Phan debuted with the UFC on the 12 season of the Ultimate Fighter and advanced to the semi-finals of the show's tournament. His first official fight with the promotion was a very controversial split decision loss to Lenard Garcia. Sherdog.com has named that bout 2010's Robbery of the Year.
"A lot of people come to me all the time saying, 'You won that fight against Leonard Garcia.' They asked me about a rematch, but I say it is what it is. If it happened, it happened. It's not a big deal to me. It's in the past now. I'm ready to move on with the next chapter in my life, and that's now Mike Brown...I like to think that I've paid my dues over the past 10 years. Hopefully I don't make any big mistakes in this fight." Phan added.
Phan and Brown are set to for a featherweight bout on the preliminary card scheduled to be streamed live via facebook.com. It will also be Phan's first bout since coming of an injury that prevented him from rematching Leonard Garcia.
Prelims between Matt Hamill vs. Alexander Gustafsson and Chad Mendes vs. Rani Yahya are set to be televised on Spike TV. The event is headlined by a rematch between Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans.
