Newark, N.J. is being targeted for a UFC event in March 2010, presumably for UFC 111.
While nothing is official, there has been talk between the organization and the New Jersey Athletic Control Board.
"There have been discussions about a date and location," Nick Lembo of the NJACB told MMAJunkie.com.
Mixed Martial Arts events are still banned in New Jersey's neighboring state of New York, which could mean that a UFC event in New Jersey will have the potential to rack up a lot of money in ticket sales and gate revenue.
No fighters have been named to the UFC 111 card yet, as it is too early to begin naming match ups, and the event is currently unannounced.
The last time the UFC visited The Garden State was at UFC 78: "Validation" in Nov. 2007, where the main event featured a split decision victory for Rashad Evans over Michael Bisping. The event pulled in a total of $2,100,000 in gate revenue and had an attendance record of 14,071.
In the past 10 years, the UFC has made a total of eight trips to New Jersey: UFCs 28, 30, 31, 32, 41, 50, 53 and 78.
