Nick Catone vs. John Salter latest addition to UFC 113 prelims
by Jacob Camargo on March 17, 2010

A welterweight bout between Nick Catone and John Salter is in the works for the un-aired preliminary portion of the UFC 113 fight card in May. News of the bout was first reported by MMAjunkie.com.

Catone (8-2) saved his status with the UFC in a close split decision win over Jesse Forbes at UFC Fight Night 20 in Jaunary. He previously dropped back-to-back fights against Tim Credeur and Mark Munoz. Catone owns a even 2-2 record with the UFC, scoring a win in his UFC debut over Derek Downey at last February's UFC Fight Night 17.

Prior to coming to the UFC, Catone fought primarily on the east coast for promotions such as; Ring of Combat,  Cage Fury Fighting Championships and Reality Fighting. He has finished six of his eight career wins and holds a notable career win over UFC welterweight John Howard.

Salter (4-1) most recently suffered a third round TKO loss to Gerald Harris in his UFC debut, which also took place at January's UFC Fight Night 20. Prior to the win, he won the first four bouts of his career fighting for other notable promotions such as; King of the Cage and Adrenaline MMA.

The former state high school wrestling champion and NAIA national champion has scored stoppages in all of his four career wins and holds other notable career wins over TUF 7 cast member Jeremiah Riggs and veteran Roberto Travern.

UFC 113 takes place on May 1 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and is headlined by a light-heavyweight title rematch between champion Lyoto Machida and challenger Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. In addition, welterweight contenders Paul Daley and Josh Koscheck will square off with a possible title shot on the line.
