What a busy weekend of MMA action it was this past weekend as a number of prominent MMA veterans saw action. Some notable MMA athletes who fought over the weekend:

Kyle Pimental bested Olaf Alfonso to earn the Palace Fighting Championship middleweight championship. Also in action, Carlo Prater took home the vacant PFC lightweight title by defeating Dominique Robinson. Pat Runez beat Anthony Perales to grab the PFC's vacant flyweight title.

In other action, WAMMA's No. 3-ranked female featherweight Erin Toughill earned a victory over previously undefeated Emily Thompson and Cole Escovedo earned a win over Michael MacDonald in his first fight back following a battle with staph infection. TUF 5 cast member Gabe Ruediger was also victorious as he defeated Darren Crisp via submission.

-At Saturday's Shine Fights' debut, Antwain Britt defeated Antonio Mendes in the headline bout of the night; Britt defeated Mendes just eight seconds into the fight. Britt, who earned a spot on the "Ultimate Fighter" season 8 cast before being forced off the show due to injury; was coming off a loss to Jamal Patterson in February. This loss extended Mendes' losing streak to three-in-a-row.

-At Sunday's Shooto:"The Final Tradition", Former top ranked lightweight Takanori Gomi is back to his winning ways after ending a two-fight skid by knocking out Takashi Nakakura. The fight was an exciting showdown as Gomi was more crisp in the stand-up exchanges.
