The WEC has officially announced the full card and TV lineup for WEC 40: “Torres vs. Mizugaki”. WEC 40 takes place on Sunday, April 5 and it will be the promotion’s first trip to Chicago, Illinois.
The main event of WEC 40 features a bantamweight championship fight between current WEC bantamweight champ Miguel “Angel” Torres, who is a Chicago native, defending his belt against Shooto veteran Takeya Mizugaki, who replaces the injured Brian Bowles. Torres will be defending his title for the third time inside the WEC cage.
Other fights on the main card include: Former featherweight powerhouse Jeff Curran will make his debut at 135-pounds in the co-main event as he takes on the training partner of Urijah Faber, Joseph Benavidez, in what is considered to be a bantamweight number one contender elimination match. Highly regarded featherweight Raphael Assuncao will be making his much anticipated WEC debut against veteran Jameel Massouh. Rounding out the main card will be a lightweight fight between Shane Roller and Ben Henderson.
