Patrick Cote Plans to "Take Care" of Anderson Silva
by Paulo Silva on August 17, 2008

Patrick Cote (13-4) is currently riding an impressive five fight winning streak defeating the likes of Scott Smith, Kendall Grove, Drew McFedriesand Ricardo Almeida en route to a huge step up in competition against UFC middleweight juggernaut Anderson Silva. The two are set to meet in Chicago at UFC 90 on Oct. 25.

Silva (22-4) has appeared virtually unbeatable since joining the UFC in the summer of 2006. Silva is 7-0 in UFC appearences with no contest going past the second round; a feat even more impressive when you consider Silva's opponents. He's mowed through Chris Leben, former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin (twice), Travis Lutter, Nate Marquardt and former PRIDE middleweight and lightweight champion Dan Henderson.

After cleaning out the middleweight division, Silva moved up to light heavyweight and absolutely annihilated highly regarded James Irvin last month at UFN 14.

Cote, however, appears unaffected by the growing legend that surrounds Anderson Silva.

"We know how to beat Anderson Silva," Cote recently told The Fight Network radio. "The only way to beat him is to push the pace. Go forward all the time. You can't let him get confident and comfortable in the center of the Octagon. You have to push the pace for five minutes every round. If I do that, I can catch him. I'll take care of him."
