Patrick Cote wants Michael Bisping fight
by Natalia Baage on November 23, 2009

With a comeback fight looming potentially in April, Patrick Cote already has his sights on who he wants to fight in his return bout.

On his Facebook page, Cote wrote:  "Next fight in 5 months !! Who I want a fight for my comeback ?? _I_PI_G ..."

Michael Bisping might be a possibility for the Canadian, as the U.K. fighter is coming off of a recent victory over Denis Kang at UFC 105 last weekend.  If the UFC grants Cote his wish, both fighters will have an ample amount of time to train.  Reasons why Cote particularly wants to fight Bisping are unclear.

However, on May 1, the UFC is scheduled to return to Montreal, Quebec in Canada, Cote's home province.  So while Cote's comeback might be delayed by a few weeks, he is okay with that if it means he can fight in his home country.  However, his return is dependent upon his doctor's approval.

"UFC comeback in Montreal on may 1st ??? it's possible .....," Cote wrote on his Facebook page.

The Canadian fighter has not fought since Oct. 2008, when he tried to beat current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva to capture the title.  During the fight, he suffered a knee injury, and had surgery to repair his MCL in the summer of 2009.

Cote holds a 13-5 MMA record (4-5 UFC), and has beaten Scott Smith, Kendall Grove, Drew McFedries and Ricardo Almeida inside the Octagon.

 |  (32) Comments Mtx: I´m looking forward to Cotes comeback. I think he could KO the hell out of Bisping. Mortis: I don't see why this fight couldn't happen. Make it happen, Dana! D_V: after the last 2 canadians laid eggs in there against bisping, i'm a little concerned about another one losing to that guy, although if it set up GSP moving to 185 and beating the everloving shit out of him, I'd be down. I think Cote likely loses on points in a very good fight. He might hurt bisping a couple times, hopefully he KOs him, but i think it's more likely that bisping does his disapearing trick in there for 15 minutes and wins a decision due to landing more strikes, albeit far less powerful ones. IwishIwasMMA: one thing i can say about cote is, that guy has evolved since the beginning of his career. He has a lot more abilities then he had in the beginning. Also, if Dan Henderson can KO you, then the moral of the story is, do not stand with Cote under any circumstance!. I think it is safe to assume now, that Bispings specialty is ground and pound wrestling style.. if he cannot get you on the ground, he is pretty much just going to out point you or try to. If you land a solid blow on him, he could be hurt at any given time. Lets face it, Kang has power, but compared to Cote, its a joke. If Cote hits you with a punch at any time in a good spot, you lose. I think if Cote kept this fight standing and charged in balls to the wall that Bisping would be unconscious in under a couple mins. Little_Kang: If cote lands a straight like kang did, then bisping will be counting the stars again. And don't expect bisping to get cote down like he did to kang. Cotes stance is much lower and uses his boxing more. fingerssfv: I like Patrick Cote. I like his heart, because he definitely leaves it all out there. The Silva fight really showed what he is all about. This guy is willing to fight any one, no matter how much of a bad a** his opponents are supposed to be. And he does have that heavy punch. Cote is one of the more exciting fighters in the UFC. This Canadian is one of the better fighters to come from the north. Michael Bisping may have been hated my many, but he showed his true self in his last fight (against Denis Kang). He got dropped, but that woke up an angry man. Bisping is one of my favorite fighters, not to mention he comes out of the UK. Dan Hardy, Ross Pearson, Andre Winner and a few more of the British fighters are really making a good showing for their Country.
