With a comeback fight looming potentially in April, Patrick Cote already has his sights on who he wants to fight in his return bout.
On his Facebook page, Cote wrote: "Next fight in 5 months !! Who I want a fight for my comeback ?? _I_PI_G ..."
Michael Bisping might be a possibility for the Canadian, as the U.K. fighter is coming off of a recent victory over Denis Kang at UFC 105 last weekend. If the UFC grants Cote his wish, both fighters will have an ample amount of time to train. Reasons why Cote particularly wants to fight Bisping are unclear.
However, on May 1, the UFC is scheduled to return to Montreal, Quebec in Canada, Cote's home province. So while Cote's comeback might be delayed by a few weeks, he is okay with that if it means he can fight in his home country. However, his return is dependent upon his doctor's approval.
"UFC comeback in Montreal on may 1st ??? it's possible .....," Cote wrote on his Facebook page.
The Canadian fighter has not fought since Oct. 2008, when he tried to beat current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva to capture the title. During the fight, he suffered a knee injury, and had surgery to repair his MCL in the summer of 2009.
Cote holds a 13-5 MMA record (4-5 UFC), and has beaten Scott Smith, Kendall Grove, Drew McFedries and Ricardo Almeida inside the Octagon.
