Former UFC middleweight and one-time contender, Patrick Cote, wants another shot at the UFC and a fight with Michael Bisping according to mmaweekly.com.
Cote's last bout in the UFC was a unanimous decision loss to Tom Lawlor at UFC 121 that capped off a three fight losing streak which prompted his release from the promotion. However Cote has since rebounded with three successive wins over UFC veterans that include unanimous decisions over Kalib Starnes and Todd Brown and a TKO over Crafton Wallace.
"You can fall, but the most important thing is how you get back on your feet. That’s what I did, three wins in a row after that...I want to get back there. In my head I know I can beat more than half of the fighters at 185 pounds, especially a guy like Mike Bisping. He has too much hype around him. It's just my opinion," Cote said.
Cote points out that he has desired to fight "The Count" for some time now. Despite Bisping's recent dominant performance against Jason Miller at The Ultimate Fighter finale, Cote remains critical of Bisping's striking abilities.
"We saw that Bisping has no power at all in his punch. I think he (Bisping) punched him (Miller) 100 times and he didn't rock him once...Before I got kicked out of the UFC, I had wanted this fight for five years. The timing wasn't good, and I didn't get the chance to punch him in the face...Just because I'm not in the UFC anymore doesn't mean I can't kick his a**," Cote said.
But is a three fight win streak enough to warrant a trip back to the UFC?
"I won three fights in a row. If they think it's not enough, I'm still going to continue to win fights until they're going to call me back," Cote said.
Time will tell if "The Predator" ever makes an Octagon appearance again.
