Paul Daley & Strikeforce Come To Terms On A Six-Fight Deal
by Bryan Levick on August 02, 2010

Less than three months after sucker punching Josh Koscheck after their UFC 113 bout had ended, British welterweight Paul Daley has signed a six-fight deal with Strikeforce.

Middle Easy was the first to report on the signing.

Rumors have been running rampant since the minute UFC President Dana White cut Daley following the lowest moment of his career in Montreal this past May. Frustrated by a smothering and trash talking Koscheck, Daley unleashed a left hook at Koscheck after the bout was officially over.

Daley not only lost a chance to face UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, he also lost out on an opportunity to coach opposite the champ on The Ultimate Fighter. Daley immediately apologized and vowed to get right back on his horse.

Daley recently competed in Australia on an Impact Fighting Championships card where he defeated Daniel Acacio via third round submission due to strikes. He is also scheduled to face a yet to be named opponent at Shark Fights 13 on September 11 in Amarillo, Texas.

Middle Easy is also reporting that his first opponent in Strikeforce will be Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos, the husband of women's MMA star Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos. No date has been given or even speculated upon. Strikeforce could use a viable contender to take on fellow trash talker and welterweight champion Nick Diaz.

United Glory also has Daley listed as one of its participants in a welterweight tournament they will be holding. The tournament will begin in October and run through spring of 2011. Other fighters rumored for the tournament are Dream lightweight champion Shinya Aoki, Nick Thompson, Dream welterweight champion Marius Zaromskis and former UFC fighter Roan Carneiro.

Ares: This certainly makes Strikeforce's welterweight division more interesting, I look forward to seeeing how Daley manages with some of the competition there. brewster: this rumour is false sparky: in the end daley has great standup but no groundgame he wont go far....then again hes in sf so maybe he will beatup almost everyone in there lol horizontalcracker: Had the Strikeforce fiasco not happened Daley may still not have been in the UFC. Dana made an example of him, rightfully I think. Taking a swing after the bell is pretty damn low. Daley was on his back for 3 rounds and did shit about it, Kos' whispers got to him (which I'm not justifying, but they're not blatant like a swing) and he couldn't handle it after the bell. His bad.
