A lightweight bout between Paul Kelly and Jacob Volkmann originally set to take place at July's UFC 116 event in Las Vegas has been moved to the UFC on Versus 2 card in August.
The bout was reportedly moved from UFC 116 after Kelly encountered visa issues, which will make the British fighter unavailable to fight on the July 3 card.
Kelly (10-2) is 3-1 in his last four bouts, which includes a 2-1 mark since moving down to the lightweight division. He most recently scored a second round submission win over Matt Veach at UFC 112 in April.
Kelly, who now trains out of Team Kaobon, has put together a 4-2 UFC record since debuting with the promotion in January 2008, scoring other Octagon wins over Paul Taylor, Troy Mandaloniz and Roli Delgado. His only career losses, which both took place in the UFC, have came against Marcus Davis and Dennis Siver.
Volkmann (10-2) fights at lightweight for the second time. He recently made a successful debut in the lightweight division, as he defeated Ronnys Torres at UFC Fight Night 21 in March. Prior to the win, he was on the verge of being cut from the UFC after losing his first two bouts in the promotion as a welterweight against Paulo Thiago and Martin Kampmann.
Prior to joining the UFC, Volkmann won the first nine bouts of his career, with the wins taking place in notable promotions such as Max Fights, Xtreme Fighting Organization, Victory Fighting Championship and Bellator. He is a three-time All-American wrestler from the University of Minnesota and hones his skills at the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, which is home to notable fighters such as Brock Larson, Sean Sherk, Nik Lentz, Nick Thompson and Brock Lesnar.
UFC on Versus 2 takes place on August 1 at the EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah and is headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between fast-rising phenom Jon Jones and Vladimir Matyushenko
