Paul Taylor injured, Charles Oliveira in against Donald Cerrone at UFC on Versus 5
by Hubert Lau on July 06, 2011

British striker, Paul Taylor, is injured and forced off his bout with Donald Cerrone at UFC on Versus 5. Charles Oliveira steps in to fight "The Cowboy" according to bloodyelbow.com.

Just recently Oliveira was in the talks of fighting Joe Lauzon in a bout scheduled for UFC 138. As fate would have it, that has all changed as Oliveira is now the late replacement for Taylor.

Oliveira (14-1 (1 no contest)) recently saw action at UFC on Versus 4 where his bout with Nik Lentz led to a no contest. It was initially ruled as a rear naked choke victory for the Brazilian but was overturned by the Pennsylvanian Athletic Commission after recognizing an illegal knee strike from Oliveira.

In Cerrone's last outing, his Muay Thai was in full display for the fight as he landed vicious leg kicks to Vagner Rocha en route to a unanimous decision victory at UFC 131. Cerrone is currently riding a four fight win streak, 15-3 and one no contest overall.

UFC on Versus 5 will be on August 14 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The event is headlined by Dan Hardy fighting Chris Lytle. Hardy will have his back against the wall as he looks to snap a three fight losing streak against the UFC veteran, Lytle. Lytle has been a part of 18 fights within the UFC, going 5-2 in his last seven bouts.

 |  (6) Comments Masternate: this should be one entertaining ass one sided beating. WAR OLIVEIRA. Wandering_Minstrel: This is going to be an all out war and extremely close. I'm predicting SD victory, but I'm not sure yet to whom. Suicidalforlife: Bad for Cerrone he would have mauled Taylor, now he's got a good striker with work class grappling.... Could be another performance he won't enjoy won or lose .... Cryptic_Soldier: Im rootin for Cowboy, not sure who wins though snuff: This is Charles for me. Superior striking and much more better on the ground imo. Wandering_Minstrel: Both of these guys matchup extremely close in terms of skills. Both have very solid muay thai skills and they both attack from their backs. I think this is an extremely close fight.
