Paulo Filho really wants a shot at Gegard Mousasi
by Jason Benfari on September 19, 2009

"My message to Mousasi was given. I don't speak idle words. If I say I can beat him, that's because I'm really capable of doing it. I have all weapons to win the fight. He's just a talented young man but he can't beat me for a while. For those people who get bothered with my opinion, I think I can win and that's that. It's his business whether he likes it or not. I'm superior in takedowns, jiu-jitsu and force. He only is able to surprise me with a punch or a knee. I'm a better grappler and he's a better striker. I'm stronger, so anything may happen, but I take the win."

Noted Brazilian jiu-jitsu expert Paulo Filho reiterates his desire to test his skill against reigning PRIDE middleweight tournament and Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi.

Filho (17-1) is coming off of a huge win over Dutch kickboxer Melvin Manhoef in his first fight since coming back from a lengthy hiatus. The former WEC middleweight champion took time off to work through depression and addiction issues and has since declared himself one-hundred percent healthy. Filho is currently under contract with Japanese promotion DREAM, which has a fighter sharing arrangement with Strikeforce making the fight between he and Mousasi a likely proposition.
